How I work

I do my best work on complex problems that span multiple domains, where domain jargon needs to be understood and translated into technical solutions. Before I build anything, I want to know what problem it solves and why that problem matters. I know the applications I work on inside out.

I deliver complete solutions: from database design through backend logic to an interface people use every day.

I prefer small, tight-knit teams that own a product end to end. I treat frontend, backend, database and operations as one whole. Short lines and personal contact work best for me.

Background

I studied economics and international relations at Ghent University. In my final year I got involved with TenderWolf. That’s where I learned to program, by building the platform.

I co-founded TenderWolf and grew into its lead engineer. For ten years I helped build the procurement platform, from analysis and design to deployment and operations.

In 2020 I founded Fiscalo with a few friends, as a side project. During the corona lockdowns it took off. Fiscalo is a payroll application for Belgian accountants: a translation of complex fiscal legislation into workable software. In 2025, Securex, one of Belgium’s largest social secretariats, acquired Fiscalo.

Since then I’ve worked at Securex as a consultant. The whole Fiscalo team moved over with me. In the first year we rebuilt the product into the Business Owner Tool, shaped around what Securex needed. After that I moved into the architecture team. In practice I spend most of my time in a product team dedicated to a single product, where architecture, analysis and development are in the same hands.

I live in Ghent and prefer to work within cycling distance.
